Dwarves throwing stones
« on: July 27, 2010, 08:45:14 am »

This isn't a suggestion but something I just discovered. If you make a tile of horizontal bars and then try to build a wall supported only by that tile, the wall will be constructed and then immediately collapse causing a mini cave-in. I don't know how damaging this is to opponents below, but if its lethal then it could prove a useful defense mechanism.

Just set up a large tower with bars on top over a choke point and your masons can rains cave-in over the enemy.

It's even kind of realistic. As if the dwarves were throwing stones through the bars to damage siegers.

I'm going to do some testing and check if a tall tower does more damage. So far I only managed to destroy a drawbridge with falling debris.

Beware that the dwarf doing the construction will often fall along with the collapsing wall.

The dwarf building the floor/wall will probably see the bad guys and run away scared.

This has been known for some time. Same thing happens with floor grates. Collapsing structures are deadly to anything underneath, so no need really to try making it more lethal.
