The world of Dwarf Fortress - in print
« on: July 25, 2010, 04:28:53 am »

So over on the Engraver's guild, our good friend Askot Bokbondeler suggested that we all take it upon ourselves to draw / otherwise create what we might see as the archetypal 'hot dwarf'. That one Dwarf (or more likely in the realms of bizarre internet suggestions - Dwarfette) would be the type to grace billboards dressed only in a rope-reed thong - the kind of thing teenage Dwarfs engrave on the walls of there 2x1 bedroom - or maybe on the cover of a magazine.

So that was where I got my inspiration from, which led to a terribly executed rendition of the fictional dwarven magazine - GUNS + ARMOK (spoilered so you don't have to view).

But in my poor performance, this is a chance - A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY - for you, the future of Dwarven publishing and advertising, to bring the world of DWARF FORTRESS to life with your own renditions how modern media would appear in DF (magazines, posters, adverts, movie posters?).

And more importantly, you can do it better than me and we can all laugh at our collective wit and imagination.

Get to it people, and remember, sex sells.

I always assumed flowing magma was enough to get a dwarf aroused?

nothing's sexier than a dwarfette painted red with the blood of elves

(edit: or perhaps elven blood is pink)

This was at first going to be an ad for soda, before I realised dwarves would never drink soda.

Dwarves won't, and neither should you. Unhealthy capitalist sugar-water...tastes awful, too.

But now, adamantine cavern brew? Sounds too much like "Nuclear Waste Disposal Zone Brew" to me. I'd stick to my dwarven rum, thank you very much  :P

wait, are they making soda by flooding the adamantine pillars with syrup + water? that seems a waste of adamantine, they should brew ale in them instead.
