My guess is that he was an adventurer from a different civ, it's just that the game doesn't expect this sort of thing to ever enter your map and just treated it like a FB or Titan in announcing it.

Someone else reported an axedwarf showing up on their map like this - with the message of a forgotten beast - who hung around in the underground for a few seasons and then leave.

Therefore, it looks like this kind of thing can be reproduced and happens with some regularity in the latest 31.ox iterations. Maybe it is an unintended glitch somehow?
