So much has happened... I don't know what to do anymore
Urist's Journal, Day 18 of Operation: Evac, Megaton
On the radio recently there was a signal. Turning to the frequency I heard a gruff speak and introduce himself as 'Werner'. He told me about how he needed help and that he had a reward for me if I helped him. There wasn't much to do recently so I decided to help the fella out. I asked the group if anyone wanted to come, and Jane volunteered. Sergeant was in the armory for repairs anyway..
Werner's position was way up the state, east of Raven Rock. We got the supplies we needed from Megaton and left towards the northeast...
After about a day of travelling, we were nearly there. They I heard a shout in the distance, a muffled and somewhat robotic voice yelled to surrender. Looking at Jane, we shrugged and continued moving. Suddenly, a beam flashed past me and...
Jane was dead...
Dust to dust..ashes to ashes..
In a fit of rage I pulled out my machine gun and glanced around for whoever shot it. A group of outcasts..at least six...were after me. All equipt with machine guns and laser rifles, they began firing. I fired back and hid behind a rock as soon as possible.
The outcasts grouped together with their rifles held tightly, laughing as they closed in. I grabbed my backpack and pulled out at least five grenades...pulling all their pins I threw them towards the outcasts..and they were done for.
Putting my gun away, I looked out into the distance, eyeing a fort. The outcasts must've been here for that. I always assume that with them, I guess. Whatever the reason, I trekked towards it, shooting down Protectrons in my way.
I entered an office near the fort and found another Protectron. I blew it up and continued downstairs. I found an open safe and a dead wastelander nearby.
Inside the safe I found lots of caps, pre-war money, a pistol and 10mm ammo. At the back of the safe were three keys and a card labeled 'Launch Codes'. I grabbed the stuff and noticed an iron door closeby. I unlocked it with one of the keys and walked down the tunnel. Next thing I know, I'm inside the fort. I heard a lot of clattering- mostly from the robot guards. I set up some pulse mines I found from the Talon Company outpost a few days ago, and led the robots over them. They were dealt with quickly.
Finishing up, I came upon a room with three doors..
A corpse propped up against one. I found a key on the body, and pushed it aside as I unlocked the two other doors infront of me to find...
A really hitech place. I ran up to the computer and, suprisingly, it wasn't passworded. I turned off the statis field which prevented me from grabbing the loot nearby and stole the armor..
As I posed threateningly, I heard a voice. It sounded vaguely like Sergeant RL:3...but it was really mean to me! Apparently it was coming from the suit. I felt something inject me and suddenly felt a lot better.
While I was leaving I looted the other two rooms and came across another computer...
It needed a password. Since it was the only other computer I saw, I decided to put in the card with 'Launch Codes' on it. I guessed a command. Suddenly the entire base shook, and red lights turn off and on. I bolted out the door to find this...
This fort has bombs.
I think I just fired a bomb.
I've got to get out of here!
I managed to break down a sealed door and just as I slammed the door behind me, I heard something like "Erminated. Launch...days..now.."
I didn't really care what it means, I just ran off in the direction of Werner. I know now to never mess around in forts anymore.
I finally made it to Werner's location. I heard gunfire so I pulled out my AR-10 and crouched behind a rock. In the distance I saw some raiders fighting someone. I started firing at the raiders and the battle was quickly over.
Werner told me his story. I would put it down here but..meh. I followed him over to a trainstation or something and we left towards 'The Pitt', where his people were being held.
We took the..whatever that thing is...to the Pitt and when we got there we were quickly ambushed.
We shot them down and continued down the path towards a gate. Werner told me how I had to disguise myself as a slave and infiltrate The Pitt from the inside. Suddenly, I heard an ear piercing cry and turned...
The Ghoul Man was there. He looked angry. He told me to go back to Megaton, because I was in violation of a contract. I told him I never signed any contract and that I had to stay and help Werner. When I looked towards Werner, he fell dead. The Ghoul told me once more and then vanished without a trace. Grumbling angrily, I went back to Megaton, feeling defeated.
