After farming few missions for points and recruiting some badass OP custom hero game becomes quite boring.

Multiplayer is fun, as well as custom skins. I once made a Venom/Carnage tagteam against a friend of mine who had only one silversurferkindadude who could fly. As neither of mine could, I needed to knock him out of the sky with one guy and then attack with the other. Fun times.

I tried #1 (I think once) but couldn't get over a) perma-death during the mission b) having to find all health kits and c) thugs with guns or any weapon wiped up the floor with my heroes. It seemed fun, but I wanted something a little closer to a beat-em-up, and less "do it right the first time or you suck" strategy game.

Hehe, you get used to some of that. Minuteman, for instance, absolutely sweeps gun-users (active defense to reflect bullets, plus a passive defense with (at max) a 66% chance to reflect them). Health kits are largely optional - if you keep out of trouble, and remember your one-shot Heroic Recovery (and don't use it for debuff or energy recovery!), you can beat most missions handily without hunting for hard-to-find boosts.

Nothing you can do about perma-death, except be more careful with nearly-downed heroes. It's a little annoying when someone gets knocked out of the arena, though - insta-kills from full health are a total pain.  :(
