problem with pumpstacking.
« on: July 18, 2010, 06:06:10 am »

So judging from the wiki, I have to dig a channel beneath the far end of the screw pump in order for it to transfer power. Only problem here is that when I dug a channel and placed a pump in the same way as illustrated, the game wont let me, and instead says that the ground is invalid or something. Did I miss out on something from the designs or does the wiki need updating?

You can build the stack only from the bottom up, one by one. You can designate a pump, once the punp beneath is designated, but if the dwarves assemble them in the wrong order, the top pump will collapse after construction.

You can prevent this by building a temporary gear assembly next to each pump, then remove it once the stack is complete.

Glossary #52
Execution shaft aka. dwarven wormhole

Works as follows: Things enter one end, emerge at the other and then get eaten by worms.

Ahh so that's where I've gone wrong.
Thank you very much!
