Burrow question
« on: July 16, 2010, 12:53:13 pm »

Can a burrow be made up of discontinuous areas?

E.g.,

BBBXXXBBB
BBBXXXBBB
BBBXXXBBB
XXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXX
BBBXXXBBB
BBBXXXBBB
BBBXXXBBB

X = non-burrow
B = burrow

Can I make ONE burrow that has all the B's, none of the X's? If so, will dwarves assigned to the burrow go through the non-burrow areas as needed to get to the other parts of their burrow? (Without using any materials from the non-burrow area, of course)

Thanks!

From my experience, burrows don't seem to prevent dwarves from walking through them to get somewhere but merely prevent the dwarf from using any items or buildings not in the burrow.  So this should work - your dwarves will only take jobs in the burrow areas, but will walk through the non-burrow areas as needed.  I could be wrong as I haven't done much intentional testing along these lines.

I think they will only remain in the burrows when "keep dwarves in this burrow" option is on.

I haven't had any trouble with disconnected burrows.
