Guns?

Just an Idea in my head. but what if guns existed in DF, I don't mean like automatic Kalashnikovs but flintlocks or those clockwork pistols from "Fable II".

Should be doable, make a reaction that requires charcoal (to simulate powder) iron, and wood to produce a ranged weapon that shoots either metal balls or rock balls.

Problem is marksdwarves still dont work

Wasn't that fixed? Could try using Bowdwarves instead.

It would be set up more or less like a crossbow. As shibdib said. Make crafting the ammo and weapons use certain materials. coal, coke, iron, steel, w/e...

You could make another reaction to make black powder. Make a dummy stone called black powder.

I've seen a few threads on this, maybe one of them finished it? Shouldn't be too hard. Mostly copy paste and name changing.

The ammo will need refining most likely.

The problem with this is that skilled gundorfs would fire their pistols like Automatic Kalashnikovs :P

Rate of fire still is hardcoded.

So maybe... gundwarfs are using AK47 or whatever and they go from being skills enough to hit semi accurately at semi fire and then as they get better the move towards full auto. O.o
