Armok Chronicles
« on: August 10, 2010, 10:01:41 pm »

Since there doesnt seem to be any established canon pertaining to exactly who Armok is or what his origin is, I decided I might as well write a story about him. I'm not that good at drawing, so if anyone could contribute pictures, I would apreciate it.

The War of the Ancients
Before the age of myth, when the world was young, there was a race not unlike the humans. They were a young race, and they had recently discovered how to smelt steel. Deep beneath the earth, a great artifact was uncovered. It was the crown of  long dead god. It granted divine powers to whoever possesed it. It was not long before the ancients fought over the divine crown. The war lasted for hundreds of years, and ravaged the realms. Eventualy, it was forgoten, lost in the ruins of a fortress whose name was lost long ago. That was, until a young wanderer came across it. He had fled his homeland after it was destroyed by raiders. He seemed drawn to this place, and had set out into the desert, almost sure that he would die, but determined nonetheless. When he finnaly reached the ruins, they were half burried under the dunes. He started digging. After an entire day, he found the crown on a marble pedestal in the midddle of a stone room, untouched by the sand and wind. On the walls were engravings depicting giant fish attacking small squat figures, magma, demons, tall long eared creatures being felled by the squat figures depicted earlier, and lakes of beer. The young man approached the crown without willing himself to, being drawn in. He grasped the crown, and the world went dark. He woke up at the top of a tall tower, covered in blood. The god had chosen him as his avatar, and they were noew one. He was the giver of life and the dealer of death. He was the lord of order and chaos. He was Armok, god of blood.

I always figured Armok being sort of a cross between Khorne, Loki, and Hades.

Edit: Oh, and I just found this:

"The almighty God, Armok, is named after the variable "arm_ok" from Tarn Adams' fantasy game dragslay (an early precursor of Dwarf Fortress). The variable counted "the number of arms you have left, for inventory purposes"."

Interesting. Well, I always thought that blood is both a symbol of death, and a giver of life, so yeah. The guy is about to demonstrate the deadly part.
Fall of the Ancients
Armok looked over the wasteland. He could see what the greed and ignorance of the ancients had done to this world. He felt rage build up inside him, and all he wanted now was to kill all those responsible for all this death. He would soak the world in blood, and the world would start anew. Before Armok appeared rune encrusted armour made by the gods lonng ago. Its runes told of the future, a future that Armok would create. He wore this armour, and his cloak. He took up his mighty longsword, and soon, very soon, it would be bathed in the blood of millions. He leapt from the tower, and left a crater where he landed on the sand below. And so he began his crusade of death.

He is the god of blood, and can never have too much. That is all any mortal may ever know, and to seek more is blasphemous.

Armok marched up to the castle gates. The gatekeeper demanded to know who he was. Armok pointed at the mighty gate and it smashed open, splinters shredding  the body of the gatekeeper. The crossbowmen fired at him, but the bolts bounced off of his armor. He ran up to a halberdier and cut him in two. Blood drained from his mutilated body. Armok willed it to float up in the air, and the blood formed small needles. He shot the needles at the crossbowmen, and they were torn to shreds. Armok struck the ground with his longsword, and a great crevice opened in the cround and engulfed the keep. The screams of the dozens of warriors trapped inside were music to his ears. He finished off the rest of the inhabitants. The blood of the dead gathered around him and was absorbed into his body. He was growing stronger, and would soon be able to unleash his full potential.

So, is this sufficiently violent for the god of blood? :P

Armok spent the next few onths destroying village after village, town after town. He had killed thousands, and he had gained the attention of the empire he was destroying. They sent ten thousand of their best troops to kill him, thinking that they were being invadsed by one of their neighbors. It was much worse. Armok stood infront of the enemy lines and slowly walked twoards them. Their archers fired, and hundreds of arrows flew twoards him. With a simple wave of hisw had, they fell harmlessley to the ground. He pointed to one of th swordsmen, and his heart burst from his chest. His comrades trembled. With a swing of his longsword, Armok ssent five of them flying. The battle had begun.

Armok was drenched in blood, standing on a mound of corpses. The soldiers were charging up it, only to be struck down. Armok raised his hand, and all thew blood on the battlefield flowed twoards him. They formed needles, and the millions of needles cut through the enemyt army. The air was killed with the screams of the dying as they were slowly torn apart, and joined their comrades on the mound. The remaining 1,000 soldiers attempted to flee. They would not get far. With a flick of his wrist, Armok caused their blood to boil, and their bodies were slowly destroyed from the inside out. Armok smiled as he heard their screams, the screams of the arrogant race that was destroying this world.
