Re-engraving?
« on: July 04, 2010, 01:47:09 am »

To conserve metal, you can melt down and re-forge any item that's under masterwork, or whichever level you're shooting for. Can you re-engrave low level engravings to have a shot at having better ones? If there's no way, feel free to move this thread to suggestions. :P

Does building over an engraved floor and then removing the construction remove the carving?

Yes,yes it does.
It also removes the smoothed floor.

Does not work with walls except you want to have Fun with magma.

Yes, but you have to be careful about the biome/layer you're in. If the square was part of a stone/gem vein inside a soil/sand area, then building/removing a construction will revert the square to soil/sand and you won't be able to smooth or engrave it again. If you're going for value rather than pure quality, you should consider that the lower-quality engraving on the higher-quality floor may be more valuable than the converse.
