Great Point-and-Click Adventures
« on: July 02, 2010, 01:02:22 am »

I'm looking for some good point-and-click adventure games, similar to Myst and sequels.

Toonstruck, which stars Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown from Back to the Future) and I think Tim Curry.

Rama based on the series of books with the same name. You'll need a notepad for some of the puzzles. :P

Both of those are definatly worth a look, though I dunno how easy they are to get a hold of, or get to run on modern systems.

Still Life. I'm not sure if it counts as point-and-click, but it's got a decent story and some good puzzles. A bit short, though.

They're oldies, but Sam & Max Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle ftw! Awesome games. Haven't played any of the new Sam and Max games, but they're probably good too. I know they aren't quite Myst-style, but I think they're worth a shot regardless.

I never had a PC when point and click adventure games were popular but years latter I played quite a few. One of the first I finished was called The Dig, it's has less humour than Day of the Tentacle or Monkey Island so it's similar to Myst in that way.

Grim Fandango, if you can find it.

If you want first-person puzzle games like Myst your choices are a bit limited though. I mostly remember the old ones, so if you don't mind horribly dated graphics and sometimes quirky interface you could look at:
The B.A.T. series
Gateway series
KGB
The first Dune game, to some extent
Rise of the Dragon, and its sequel, Heart of China
