Strange Moods for Doctors
« on: June 27, 2010, 09:57:05 pm »

Dwarves with the doctor profession should be able to get strange moods wherein they grab the most critically injured dwarf and repair things like organs or brain damage that normally couldn't be treated.  Afterwards the treated dwarf could have stat boosts related to health, such as being stronger than they were before or tougher.

This has been suggested before, in a few variations.   Specifically, grafting stuff and doing weird experiments.

Urist McDoctor has been taken by a fey mood!

Urist McDoctor screams "I must have mechanisms!"
Urist McDoctor screams "I must have body parts!"
Urist McDoctor screams "I must have a shell!"
Urist McDoctor screams "I must have cut gems!"
Urist McDoctor screams "I must have an injured dwarf!"

This is a clockwork brain. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is constructed from brass mechanisms. It is encircled with bands of elk bone. It is adorned with hanging rings of elk bone. It is studded with black pyropes. It menaces with spikes of tortoise shell.
On the item is an image of the dwarf Urist McVictim and the goblin Ngokang Bloatedvomit the Fetid Howls of Secrecy in black pyrope. Ngokang Bloatedvomit the Fetid Howls of Secrecy is striking a menacing pose. Urist McVictim is making a plaintative guesture. This image relates to the wounding of Urist McVictim's brain by Ngokang Bloatedvomit the Fetid Howls of Secrecy during "Nikotarist", the Assaults of Action in 1055.

This could be alot of fun. First, you need an injured dwarf, which is possible the most abundant resource in any fort, just grab a woodcutters axe and whack off someone's arm. Doon't worry! I can put it back on!

*ahem*

Quote
Urist McAustin, legendary armorsmith. A dwarf barely alive. Gentledwarves, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic dwarf. Urist McAustin will be that dwarf. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

Now all we need is a little bit more alchemical expertise in this game, and we can give dwarves a ROCKET PUNCH!  No, even better, a drill for a hand!

(Urist McCampbell could use a crossbow in his other hand, and rack up a record number of zombie kills...)

Or, if no wounded dwarves are available, put together some dead bodies... Urist McFrankenstein!
