Mechanic stockpile
« on: February 09, 2008, 12:28:00 pm »

Does anyone else find it odd and annoying that mechanical bits are stored in the furniture stockpile? I think there should be a new one for mechanics, trap parts, and the like, that way they can be stored in bins, and not take up all the space that could be used for storing furniture.

Eh, it's not that important, but it could be helpful.

Mechanisms are bin-storable?

I'm going to have to reconfigure some stockpiles if that's true ...

No, they aren't, because they're stuck into the furniture stockpile.

When did custom stockpiles with custom-defined bin amounts become unavailable?

Those are still there. But mechanics and such won't go into bins.

There are couple of things that should go in bins rather than the furniture stocpile.  Bags, for instance, should go into a bin.  Mechanisms, I'm not sure about, since they are effectively giant gears, right?

Sand bags have their own special option at the bottom of the furniture stockpile settings screen.

Bags are counted as bins as far as the game's concerned. A container that holds items. And yes, I think there's a separate option for sand bags.

That got me too for a while until I figured it out. In the bottom right, there's a 'u' in the bottom right to turn sand bags on or off, they don't appear in any of the usual lists.

The same thing happens with prepared meals in food stockpiles.
