Ah, the hardest part of carrying out any plan you want to keep a secret from someone. The bane of Bond villains. Not bragging about it.

Really, I'm not at all shocked by the US detaining someone who leaked classified material. That's kind of what I expect them to do. They should maybe show a bit more initiative in owning up to their mistakes, and not classify the material in the first place, if they want to hang on to their Public Trust Points. But once they declare it secret? Yeah, trying to keep it classified is entirely reasonable.

Bragging about it and mentioning it in a conversation with a friend are two different things.

How and why was this classified information?

Is there room for personal morality and/or international law in a modern military?

I would like to think that obeying international law would be an effective legal defence...
