World Gen
« on: June 10, 2010, 07:36:12 pm »

So I've recently started messing around with world gen. I'm trying to get deep river canyons, preferably with a couple Z-levels of stone, and preferably with something bigger than a brook, but I'm not having much luck. Anyone have any suggestions for what parameters to tweak? (I'm using .06)

To get big river valleys, crank up the number concerning erosion.
To get stuff bigger than brooks, increase the amount of rivers created during worldgen and make there be not all that much in the way of bodies of water on the map, so that the rivers have to go father to reach the shore and so have more chances to meet up and such.

If you feel like messing with a utility, PerfectWordDF(see sig) can place a border of mountains on the map edges. This tends to corral the rivers together and makes for a better chance of major rivers.
