can we have a forbiden area option, which dwarves will enter under no circumstances, and i literally mean no circumstances even if they are starving to death and there is food there or they are being fired at but are surrounded by it and espicially not if its just because some stupid rodent dicided to die in the middle of the cave and my moronic dwraves think its intelligent to stream out there to die at the hands of the cave spiders

You can already use the "forbid item in area" designation ({d}>{f}), which saves almost all troubles of this kind.

Up until i find out that another rat has died in that infernal cave and ive lost another dwarf. I dont want to have to pause every 5 seconds to check nothing new has appeared in there i want to be able to designate an area offlimits

Yes, it obviously would be useful by the way.

(I guess I am already too used to dwarven stupidity and to the use of work arounds to solve problems in this game ; I was totally forgetting this is the Suggestions forum ; on first thought I was going to recommend you to build walls and locked doors to get rid of the annoyance  :D).

Would you just stand somewhere and starve just because it's an order?
I sure wouldn't.
If I'm gonna die, I might as well.... live!

Already been discussed, with less annoying titles.

Just build a hatch cover over the cave entrance and forbid it.

How about making any items and stuff dropped anytime a dwarf did not kill something forbidden? A Goblin kills a deer -> deer (and any body parts are forbidden and the dwarves won't come running out of the fort and into the group of goblins to get the deer. Unless you claim it ofcourse.
Dwarves killing something though shouldn't make it forbidden since hunters would have a problem. Dwarves killed I think should go forbidden too (no running to get the dead guys stuff without permission).

This is why we have locked doors.  You can block off an area, but you actually have to build an object and put it in the way.  You can't just telepathically command your dwarven minions not to go there.  This is a feature, not a bug.

If we couldn't telepathically tell our dwarven minions to do things, dwarven fortresses would have to build themselves.
