Material values for armor/weapon
« on: June 03, 2010, 11:42:38 am »

I used the search function and the wiki, but I didn't find anything useful yet.

I've looked through the raws to find out which material is good for what and didn't get the point yet...
Which value is appointing to what (damage type/armor strength)?

for instance the usage of steel vs. bronze for sharp blades?

edit: haha found this ( http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010:Material_token ). Haven't been searching long enaugh apearently ... sorry for the insult  :P

edit2: reopening  :D there is nothing about armor? how does material affect armor?

I haven't yet worked with materials, but I've been looking at that stuff recently.  My current guess is that SHEAR_YIELD etc relate to how well a material defends against slashing attacks, IMPACT_YIELD etc relate to how well a material defends against blunt attacks, SOLID_DENSITY affects both types of damage, and MAX_EDGE affects slashing damage.  I believe bigger numbers = better for all of these.  SOLID_DENSITY will also affect weight for hauling/encumberment purposes.

But I haven't tested any of this.
