Sieges - or lack of therof
« on: May 19, 2010, 03:34:33 pm »

Are there any peculiar conditions that are required for siege to begin?

My fort has 100+ dwarves, exists for more than 3 years and I'm still to see any siege.

yes.

need to have goblins.

or enraged humans/elves. Might be kobolds can siege too in 2010, i havn't checked.

If you have no relevant neighbours, there is nobody to come siege you.

Press c to check nearby civilizations.

If you see goblins then you should get some goblinite deliveries.

Kobolds have always been able to siege, it is just they have to steal a bunch of things first.

Or at least they send ambush squads. I'm not quite sure what the relation is. I had some caravan and goblin items stolen for a year, and next year I got a kobold ambush squad (all bowbolds), but the year after that I only had thieves again.

No need to start a new fort, just use some of those flooding contraptions on your trade depot for a couple years.  You'll get sieges.  I recommend fighting the humans, since they wear recyclables.

Yes, their bronze weapons are pretty decent until you manage to scrape together your own.  With whats left you can put into traps and trade the rest to your dwarfen caravan.

I would much prefer to have the ability for my baron to be wearing human leather when the human ambassador comes with a peace treaty, though.  Just because they are sentient doesn't mean I have to be civil with the corpses...

I have never been sieged; only ambushed. and I've been playing for 8+ months now (8 months straight).
Why won't they ambush me... I'm in my third year, massive wealth, large population. And they are enemies on my map.
