Downloading Youtube Videos
« on: April 07, 2010, 08:08:01 pm »

You know, I have a few favorite youtube videos that I'd like to keep around with me for recreational viewing. You know, when I'm at a computer but I don't have access to Youtube.

However there seems to be a few programs for downloading youtube videos, so I was wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction as far as this goes.

AVC (any video converter) works really well. Not only will it download the videos, it can convert them into almost any filetype.

Alright, I got AVC, but... how the heck do you work this thing? I downloaded a Youtube video to it, but I can't figure out how to save the videos to my harddrive. Inane cryptic computer puzzlery like this really makes me angry, could you give me a tip on how to get it to do what I want?

Alright, quick revival and question: would it be possible to place the Any Video Converter onto my Flashdrive, and just download videos directly onto it from public computers?

Sorry I've been absent from the forums for such a long time by the way.

Perhaps look around in AVC for a destination download file? Where does it download to normally?

Seems like you found something but Youtube Downloader is free, does the trick simply and has some conversion capabilities.

Downloadhelper is good.

So is pulling files out of /tmp if you're using a Mac or GNU/Linux.

If you want it portable, why not just use one of those online services that do the trick for you? Personally I'd prefer http://www.filsh.net/ but it's "only" available in german, french and spanish. But even without speaking those languages one should be able to work that site.

Oh, and it even does the converting thing for you.

What about programs that let you separate the sound from the video
