I re-loaded after the titan showed up but before it ended up in my front hallway. This time I put a squad well outside the fort to intercept it. I wanted to hole up until I had a solution, but only 1 of my 2 bridges had a manual control - the other was pressure plate operated only, which meant I needed time to link it to a lever.
The dwarves once again had little problem with it, aside from not being able to kill it. Meanwhile, a force of goblins showed up while they were delaying the scorpion. By the time the 2nd bridge was ready to retract, 2 of my militia were knocked out by goblins. I guess full-adamantium armor isn't perfect protection. The rest retreated inside the fort and I retracted all bridges.
I thought a bit, and realized all I needed to do for the short term was contain it. Since I had heard that building-destroyers can be blocked by bridges over ramps, since they don't destroy things from underneath, I build a "roach motel" with ramps and bridge "hatches" at either end. The idea being to lure the Scorpion in and close both hatches.
While I was setting the containment area, the scorpion managed to kill all the remaining goblins. I guess it rolled over them, since it was again missing all its limbs. When I finally was ready, and I opened a route into my fort through the trap, but the scorpion wouldn't come in because it was too busy chasing an elven caravan around in circles.
I dispatched my squad out to distract the scorpion so the elves could get away. When they were sufficiently distant, I sent the squad back indoors, and the scorpion slowly follow them through the roach motel, where I trapped it. Now it's wandering (rolling?) aimlessly in there. When I get a chance I'll fill it with magma, though that means pumping the magma up another 20 levels.
