Bucket pumps
« on: February 02, 2008, 04:53:00 pm »

This thing, made out of two bucket pump bases (blocks, mechanism, rope), and 1 bucket per Z-level.

Advantages:
*Less leaky than screw pumps, meaning more pumping action for a given amount of power
*Much easier than screw pumps for lifting water more than one level
*Can be used for vertical transmission of power without using tons of logs

Disadvantages:
*Less water flow than screw pumps
*Requires a lot of components
*Less effecient power transmitter than vertical axles

agreed.  Would make transporting water up z-levels a lot less troublesome.

I like it! Should make the whole business of indoor waterfalls a bit easier with rows of them.

I like it, seconded.  It could have an adjustable number of buckets (chosen at creation time), so it can move water at different speeds.
