Are humanoids killable?  A squad of legendaries with steel weapons could only slightly hurt it (chop off some minor bits).

Yeah, it's not a matter of shape, but of material. Mostly, you can only kill (with weapons that is) those that are organic or otherwise breakable. The inorganic, unkillable FB's need to be killed using magma or a combination of magma and water (the former kills most things, the latter kills everything - without exception).

I killed a vomit monster by freezing it. >.>

It seemed to kill it without worry.
