Fix the material selector please...
« on: April 04, 2008, 05:47:00 pm »

This is about modding as well.

The selector I'm talking about is the one that determines what material to use when assigning armor and weapons to civilisations.

It will use the material (of the available, as per the _PREF tags) with the highest BLOCK_PERC property for ALL metallic armor, and the material with the highest DAMAGE_PERC for all ammunition. I also can't figure out why aluminum (with the minerals mod) is largely preferred for all ranged weapons - either it's the lightest, or the most valuable.

While I don't really oppose the notion, because it lets you always have the best items, but why sacrifice diversity for this? I made up "infused" metals that would see most use in adventure mode, but there's simply no way to get them because all shops sell only the best-metal armor, and all arrows are the most damaging...
