"Axel Walls/floors"
« on: October 31, 2007, 04:51:00 pm »

Right now, one suggestion I would like to make is a wall tile that also acts as a horizontal axel, and vertical axel that acts as a floor tile (but still can transmit power through said floor, unlike now).  The reason I ask is, right now water can flow along axels and gearboxes, which makes preventing massive water leaks a little difficult.  I'm having to build axels from my ground-levl waterwheels *up*, then over and down a pumping tower to my screw pumps.

On another note, I'll be thoroughly documenting my design when ti's finished.  BTW, so far it works great!

On the one hand, I see your point, it would be useful to have waterproof axel walls, but on the other hand, you have to admit that it is kind of realistic, because how exactly do you fit a turning axle through a wall without letting water out?

You make a hole in the wall with the exact sice of the axle?

You use oil soaked rope, actually. They use it, or at least used to, to water proof the holes made for the propellers in big ships.
