Searching for water meter parts
« on: May 04, 2010, 01:22:22 am »

I have a very old 5/8" water meter and I am trying to find anyone who may have the 'round read' (pointer) register for these units OR leads as to who may have the same.

I have been searching on the Internet but I have mostly only been finding requests for quotes, news releases of large deployments of new Neptune meters, or other articles of that nature.

Of all the possible subjects that could ever be discussed, this is one I actually know something about.  Not a lot of something, but something.

When you say "water meter", do you mean the connecting gauge thing that water comes from the street line into your house through?  Because in that case, it was put there by your city water company, so just call them up and they'll replace it.  There's really no point in asking for replacement parts, because every municipality buys their own in bulk.  There's probably only a handful of makes and models, but finding someone outside your area with spare parts at all is a crapshoot at best.  Now, if like me, discussing anything with the water company is out of the question, you could find a for-sale or demolished house and take the water meter from there, but I neither recommend nor encourage this.

If you're not talking about your municipal water main gauge, then I have no idea what you are talking about, and you can disregard all that above.
