Also, you can't travel while underground, which I've been spending an increasingly long time in with all the fun creatures.

Traveling will also heal wounds. in 40d and before it healed evreything but lost body parts instantly byt now it just "Quickheals" and not "instaheals"

Actually, you can 'T'ravel if you are under a map feature like a cave entrance or civ site, though you will end-up on the surface and not underground.  It is a darn good thing because sometimes it is almost impossible to make it back up the way you came down.  My first adventure in .31 was underground for about an in-game month before I figured that bit out.

There is a nifty thing called a search button, too.
I don't blame you, but you could check if there is already a topic on it or remember if the DF wiki already covers it.

It's easy, just find a very large cliff that's at least 10+ z levels high (the higher the better, not enough and the exploit won't work) and have your character jump off of it.

Presto! You'll never need to eat or drink again. Pretty game breaking bug if you ask me. I hope toady fixes this one in the next version.
