[40d] I have some un-renderable fat. What gives?
« on: May 05, 2010, 05:27:39 pm »

I have a stack of 6 cow fat.  It was in a barrel in my fat stockpile.  (Yes, I have a stockpile just for fat.)

I am trying to render it.  My cook goes and grabs it, brings it to the Kitchen, time passes, then I get the "so-and-so has canceled Render Fat: Job item lost or destroyed."

Dunno what the deal is.  The fat's not rotten, because when the fat is rotten, I get the "so-and-so has canceled Render Fat: Needs non-rotten fat." and they stick it in the refuse pile.

Anybody have any ideas?

You were probably aiming for the bug report forum.

That said, I have a similar bug; two pieces of muskoxen fat that have sat unused for probably a decade.  They don't even get picked up, they just get ignored by render (and stockpile) tasks.

It's probably melted fat.  I'm not quite sure, but I don't think it's usable after it melts (even if it resolidifies).

Except not in 40d.

Posting bug reports on 40d is a bit silly don't you think?

I don't think it's a bug, so you would be incorrect.  I'm assuming it's working as intended, and I simply don't understand what's going on.  Thus, I am hoping someone else does, and can explain it.

Even if it is a bug, it's 40d.  I think the time for 40d bug reports has passed.
