Make sure to grab Winamp and use it to retrieve all that music you have on your iPod now before you switch.

Acutally, it may be a good idea to use Winamp to back up all the music, then use iTunes to reset your iPod "to factory settings" (aka, a wipe and reinstall of the iPod's Operating System), then put the music back on it. You may not need to buy a new one if that works.

Are you transferring music to your iPod from a flashdrive?  If that's the case, the music goes won't sync if you take the flashdrive out.

As he said, his computer was lost along with all his old music. So he is running with what music he had on his iPod, and not syncing more onto it.
