Clothing: finished goods or armour?
« on: December 23, 2007, 07:08:00 pm »

I find clothing and armor to be ambiguous, and would love to have usable clothing separated from unusable.

At present, 'Finished Goods' contains an 'armor' category, and 'Armor' contains 'Coats, Shirts, Cloaks, Tunics' and all the other types of clothing. This occurs in stockpiles, and I think it also occurs in the updated (and VERY helpful - thanks!) Trade Depot selection system.

My suggestions are:

Option 1. Add a 'usable/unusable' category to Finished Goods. This is probably a bad idea, because it's only useful to the clothing and would presumably affect all other finished goods.

Option 2. Move all clothing to the Armor category, perhaps making it 'Armor/Clothing'. This is probably a much better idea, though it still leaves Armor and Clothing ambiguous. It'd be an option that I'd be happy with, however.

Option 3. Add a Clothing category, remove all clothing items from the Armor and Finished Goods categories, and don't put any Armor items in the Clothing category. Give the Clothing category the same 'usable/unusable' options as the Armor category.

Option 3 is my favourite.

My guesses as to which items are armor, btw: Body: armor & mail, Head: helms, Feet: high (and low?) boots, Hands: gauntlets (and leather gloves?), Legs: greaves (and leather leggings?).

Seconded.  Whichever version.

Many (including myself) have posted such comments.
The whole usable vs narrow clothing problem has been a longstanding one.
It has always confused me why clothing is listed in the armor stockpile lists, and would make sense to just include it where it is already listed.
