New category in the Bring to Depot screen
« on: December 23, 2007, 03:48:00 pm »

This is a great new feature btw. But one problem is that it is very difficult to find cooked food. I had to just scroll through the "all" list until I happened across my quarry bush roasts to sell.

It would be handy to have a cooked food category like in the stocks screen.

I'll second this, I'm not currently playing but a large part of my fortresses' exports tend to consists of cooked meals, so I am going to be very much happified by this...

Yeah, it's missing all the things you can't ask for from the liaison at this point.  You can use the typing filter to find particular items for the time being.

The typing filter is really useful, "Narrow" just about covers all my trading needs usually  :)  I think I'd like to have it on the Stocks menu now !

Reminds me that I'd like to split "Finished Goods" into useful and unuseful finished goods.
I'm still uncertain what actually goes into the Goods pile, but Mugs need to go to crafts (they're UNuseful) whereas Mechanisms can go to the Goods pile (useful).  Clothing though, should get its own pile.  Cloth has a pile (for thread and woven cloth) but clothing takes up the same stockpile as mechanisms and mugs.

(Yes, I know we can customize these settings, but the point is the default Goods pile seems too unrestrictive, sort of like an "I don't know what these are" pile).

penguin: mugs are only under the All category; you'll have to search for 'mug' to find them.

Same could be done for cooked food; just search for 'roast', 'biscuit', or 'stew'.

Brings me to something I've noticed:
I haven't figured out how to search that damn list yet.

Fortunately I trade crafts all the time, so I haven't needed anything specific yet.
