Engravings of Humans and Giant Eagles EVERYWHERE
« on: April 26, 2010, 06:55:48 pm »

So...is anyone else getting a LOT of engravings of various humans taming giant eagles?  Every fort I start in every world ends up with like a million of the bloody things.

My current master engraver is plastering them everywhere and doesn't have a preference for giant eagles or anything.  Perhaps it is just a very common vent from worldgen history or something.  I have to say I wold much rather see some engravings of demons, titans, dragons, and bronze collossi beating on eachother (the legends of my world includes some pretty impressive battles of that nature).

My other thought is that somewhere in the game files "tamed a giant eagle" is given WAY too high of an importance setting or something.

Anywho - anyone else getting these?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Not giant eagles, but I got a lot of humans taming jaguars. Around 40% of my statues/figurines were of this one human and his jaguars.

They probably all represent a single historical event. I'm not sure if it's things that happened nearby or what, but my dwarves keep depicting a few events over and over. They can't get enough of this one time an elf got eaten by a lion.

Isn't as bad as the time in one of my previous forts.
Had to avoid a dogsplosion by slaughtering loads of puppies.
The engravers kept engraving screaming dogs untill the end of the fortress.

I've heard that engravers draw frequently from local history. Most likely, your civilization was pretty boring, and the human was pretty active so your engravers didn't have much choice.

If you go to war with the humans, you might get to see some of those giant eagles in the flesh.

In four forts so far 90% of the historical engravings have been of a human or a dwarf's travels to a particular place.

There is an engraving of three dwarves in a dining room. The third dwarf is a soaper.
