This all sounds great, but only if we add in their lack of a proper, fully grown, immune system. When the baby/child falls off the bed, that little cut will become infected(only if it's not properly treated) and thus, Dwarven surgery. Or that wound in the arm, from a bolt(touched by dirty goblin hands mind you) if not removed properly or cleanly, will result in,  Dwarven surgery.

i.e. Stumps the child

Well, now we have medicine in the game. Now what? Is this possible?

It isn't JUST that a baby heals faster then an adult it is also that they heal damage that an adult cannot.

In otherwords they have mild regeneration. It would be interesting if Toady included a few regeneration strengths as well as parts with "Regenerate" tags for creatures who can grow back certain parts but not others.

Where is our dwarven Polio?  Smallpox?  We need plagues and babies suckling the breasts of their dead mothers as they're set aflame to contain the outbreak.  We need quarantines.

The Fortress Nazg Ishtak has succumbed to plague.

You had me at "breasts".

I really should've contributed something to this thread, but oh well.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

How about making dwarves incredibly strong at birth, but a disease (age disease) makes them weaker as they grow older? I'm only just now setting up the newest version of DF on my PC, so I don't know what is possible as of now.
