could I make dwarves unhappy with this by putting up statues of people they hold a grudge against in their rooms?

And to clarify Akura, the spartan had a normal sized fly on his sheild, he just claimed it looked like a lion since he got so close to his enemies.

If you hit a dwarf with moving water with sufficient strength it will knock the baby out of the mother's arms.  The water can then be used to sweep the baby into a well or cistern for drowning.  The device which does this can also double as a mist generator.

I was always frustrated with the engravings I got. I'd get hundreds of the same political appointment, a bunch of symbols, and nothing of the ending of lives in confusion and terror.

What do you really need to turn Elves into Dwarves? Mutation could make them grow a beard; insanity effects could make them evil-minded, aggressive, tree-hating cave dwellers, and instant, full necrosis of their lower legs could make them short.

Most of my statues relate to some kickass hill titan living on my hill ambushing, killing, striking down, attacking, punching, standing over the corpse of or mocking any human who came anywhere near him over the course of about 600 years.

Damn I envy you. Even my relatively bloody fortresses have almost entirely civilian wall carvings.

Then again, I suppose my particular combination of paranoia, wussiness, compassion, engineering flair and occasional save-scumming  make my fortresses a rather bloodless lot.
