Author Topic: Cave swallowman has given a name to his we....@#$# shut up already! (help?)  (Read 1139 times)

Posting a question because I'm having trouble finding a way to disable this.

The short of it.  Other civs on the map that I can't see have started to name their weapons.  When this happens it pauses the game, changed my focus to where they creature in particular is, and sets up an ingame dialog box that I must push enter to leave.  This happens at least twice every 30 seconds if not more often.  How do I get it to stop doing this?



The bit long of it.  Since I have embarked in this spot, I have been getting notifications of a forgotten beast (that is not on my unit list) is becoming unenraged...I also get notifications that a cave swallow man/woman is becomming attached to items.  The cave swallowman also dosn't appear on my screen.  From the differing notes I get and so on, I have gathered that the cave swallow people have gotten into a fight with the forgotten beast..and are stuck beating on it for all eternity as its one of those types that can't/won't die.  For the first few years of this particular fortress it wasn't so bad..as I'd just get occasional notification of big stuff happening..people becomming attached to items..the beast going into differing states..and so on.  But now its started to become annoying..as the fight has gone on so long names are starting to be given to weapons, and every time a weapon is named the screen switches to the location it happens, pops up a dialog box saying what happened (and requires me to push enter to get past), along with just plain old pausing the game.

The other times this happens I don't mind..its usually telling me a cave I'd been looking for had been found..I like that.  But this fight is starting to cause spam as I've seen it go to the point of happening every 10 seconds of unpaused game time, its interrupting my play and just being a general burden.  Is there any way to turn off the 'weapon named' notification while leaving the others on?

Open announcements.txt

Now, I'm not 100% sure on this, because I haven't had any item-naming going on in my games, but I think it's the line :

[NAMED_ARTIFACT:A_D:D_D:BOX:P:R]

You want to change to :

[NAMED_ARTIFACT:A_D:D_D]

Box = Popup box
P = Pause
R = Recentre view

In the future, dwarves are near extinction because they dug up too many bad Cave Swallowmen armed with poisoned weapons. So they keep sending re-educated Cave Swallowmen back into the past to save dwarfkind. I think I heard that somewhere...
