Maintaining stocks?
« on: November 17, 2006, 02:03:00 pm »

Keeping food stocks is rather hit and miss. It would be nice (but admittedly quite complicated) to be able to set levels of materials available. Some materials, like bones and ore, would be impossible to keep, but things like metal bars and prepared meals should be easy.

Example: Maintain 100 prepared meals and 150 plant flour. Job orders via the manager (but possibly set by another noble) automatically kick in once either level is under the setpoint.

This could get rather complicated and self-referential if you wanted to maintain a certain level of seeds, which in the case of plump helmet would allow the number to fall under because of planting but would restrict cooking plump helmet.

I don't really see any technical difficulties with this personally.

Stocks could only be maintained on things which the manager can order, and that's limited to things which can be created via production orders.

Unless you mean that things which are consumed (but not directly produced) to freeze the things which consume them?

I don't think this presents any real difficulties, either.
