Dealing with foreign items
« on: July 30, 2007, 09:19:00 pm »

I'd really like to see some sort of good way to deal with items left behind by sieges and intruders.  Right now, I'm getting swamped under all the items left behind by goblins and having to go searching through stockpiles to chasm them.

Perhaps a good solution would be to have an auto chasm/melt option for any items that can't actually be used by the dwarves.

Possible Ignore foreign items toggle for hauling, much like the outdoor refuse thing?

I don't know.  Leaving everything lying where it is doesn't seem much better.  Really, what I want to do is melt down everything that can be melted and toss everything that's left.

I tend to stick all of their melee weaponry in weapon traps.

I think it's possible to dedicate stockpiles strictly for foreign goods, but i may be mistaken.  Though that still leaves a bunch of hauling jobs.

some weapons are useable, the oens that arent go into traps that kill more goblins and make more traps.

It would be nice if there were auto chasm/auto melt settings for anything. Foreign junk is the main thing, but it would also be useful for when you're training weapon/armorsmiths and don't want piles and piles of low quality junk lying around.
