Is there any recovery for me?

Every time I try to load my save, I get this message:

"One of the compressed files on disk has errors in it.  Restore from backup if you are able."

I don't have a backup, but will be routinely making them from now on.  Is there any way to recover from this without starting with a new world?

Sadly, no.

You should indeed turn on seasonal autosaves and autobackups.

Theres an option in the .ini file to not compress saved game files. Change it and hope it prevents and future problems.
