Traditional Traps in 2010
« on: April 07, 2010, 01:13:39 pm »

Since I haven't managed to keep a fort alive long enough (due to invulnerable zombies, gobbo ambushes, and general rage with the bugs in farming+refuse+military) to try out old tricks for new problems, I'm going to ask the community:

1. What's the cut-off point for the Dwarven Atom Smasher now? What's the new [SIZE:10]?

2. Cage traps still as powerful as ever? Weapon traps? Spikes+Lever?

What's your experiences been with these old gold standards in the new world of 2010?

Weapon traps do significantly less damage, but if you're quick getting set up a hallway full of maxed weapon traps will still mince a lot of invaders. Note that it pays a lot more to have a variety of different weapon types in there, and you'll need 2-3 times as many traps as before to get the same results. However, since caravans don't bring wagons at the moment you can pretty much force invaders to walk across every single trap in the hall.

I think I'm going to test the spikes+lever on the HFS during DF Masters 3.
