Cave crocodile nervous tissue
« on: April 05, 2010, 11:17:34 pm »

So, after tapping into a cavern and killing a cave crocodile and a giant bat and a giant toad, my butcher's shop is packed with hair and nails and scales and cartilage and nervous tissue from the various animals. Now, I can use the meat and skulls and bones, but is there anything to do with the rest of this stuff, or is it just garbage?

Pretty much anything not listed as "prepared" that's a body part is currently considered junk.  It's unknown if you'll be able to cook them in later releases or not.

We don't even make many meals out of nerve tissue. Why the hell would mideval dwarfs?

I'd say we should ask an expert, but it might sound like a racist stereotype.  So I'll keep my mouth shut.

Wel, if we are to use nervous tissue as meals,
we should also get Toady to introduce Creutzfeld-Jacob/BSE as a disease in DF

Might just be a biproduct of the new tissue system, but there might be more use for it in the future, Dwarven Soothsayers lol. *I see in this nerve tissue that the fortress will have much fun in the next year!*

(There is a story behind this. . .)

This is an Alder Omelette. All craftsdwarfship is of highest quality. It is encircled with bands of cheese. It menaces with spikes of bacon, ham, and peppers. On the object is an image of dwarves in egg white. The dwarves are eating.

Different body parts can be further proccessed into edible substances (I think nervous tissue turns into sweetbread and so on).

Welcome to Murdermachines. Try the gecko sauce; it's delectable and delightful, a wonderful blend of savory and spicy that makes any dish delicious without being too overwhelming.

You can already eat brains in Dwarf Fortress.  I once embarked with several barrels of naked mole dog brains as my only food supply.
