Help with my creature
« on: April 04, 2010, 11:04:23 pm »

I have made a creature called a hinden bird:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I would like to make the gas sack a body part so that it shows up in logs, and so that its ability to breathe and fly is linked to it. Also the gas seems not to do much damage although I have set its temp very high.

Is there a way to make the females less common?

If you want your gas to be in the sack, make a SACK bodypart and change gas layer to:
[TISSUE_LAYER:BY_CATEGORY:SACK:GAS]

Remove GAS_SACK tissue layer.
Also put a FLIER on this sack and make special wings without this token.

And yeah temperature attacks do not do anything right now, at least it looks like that.

POP_RATIO

P.S> This is how POP_RATIO is used for antmen:
Code: [Select]
[CASTE:WORKER]
[CASTE_NAME:worker ant:worker ants:worker ant]
Female, but non-breeding (most of the time).
[POP_RATIO:10000]
[CASTE:SOLDIER]
[CASTE_NAME:soldier ant:soldier ants:soldier ant]
Female, but non-breeding (most of the time).
[POP_RATIO:1000]
[CASTE:DRONE]
[MALE]
[CASTE_NAME:drone ant:drone ants:drone ant]
[POP_RATIO:5]
[CASTE:QUEEN]
[FEMALE]
[CASTE_NAME:queen ant:queen ants:queen ant]
[POP_RATIO:1]

In the words of Tracy J. Butler, I'm not sure if this was any help, but I hope at least it didn't make you stupider.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.
This could be a handy way of teaching preschool children mathematics.

Hey, tfaal, you mind if I rip this to make a basic tutorial or something?

Yeah, go right ahead! I know writing it helped me learn a lot about tissues, and the modding community needs all the help it can get at this point.
EDIT: I prettied it up a bit, because damn I cannot write well at 4 AM.

I've copied the text of the page -- with some slight additions -- on to the wiki. You can find the page here.
