If you build a bridge that runs east-west, like

XXXXXX

and set it to raise to the north (in the 'w' direction), you can raise the bridge, and things will stop using it, but it will look exactly the same as it did before, because it just draws it up so it is 1 tall, but it was already 1 tall in that direction.

at least, I think that's how I got my bridge that behaves like that.  It's real hard to figure out if it's been raised or not.

Hmm.  Raising bridges really ought to require a size of at least two in the direction that they raise.

silly question time.. what exactly does it mean by raising direction?

eg.. if it's a west/east bridge and it's raised to the east.. does it mean the stump will be in the east rather than west coast?
