age of myth, always?
« on: April 03, 2010, 04:20:46 pm »

since the new version, i have never seen a world leave the age of myth during the default 1050 year world ages.  is it counting unreleased HFS in its counts?

the old versions didnt used to track such things until they were released, thus it was possible to plunge your world back into Myth after you had entered Legends or Heros or somesuch.  I have tried both large and pocket worlds, the only difference being that pocket worlds have a tendancy to have their civilized populations entirely wiped out.  I havent tried running longer than 1050 years since its just so slow, especially on larger worlds!

I guess I could try altering worldgen paramaters to reduce the number of megabeasts and try to get some other ages.  just curious as to what other people ha ve seen.

Yeah, the megabeasts are no longer pushovers. I've genned four worlds altogether, and none of them left the Age of Myth. Only one had a surviving elven civ.

I don't believe I've yet seen a megabeast actually die during worldgen, even after a millenium. Since the Age of Myth seems to continue as long as the vast majority (90%?) of the megabeasts are still alive, the world doesn't leave that Age.

I've also noticed that civs don't tend to grow as much anymore. In the old version, a dwarven civ would probably have four or more settlements after even 400 years, but in the new version they rarely have more than two even after a thousand. Probably just due to the megabeasts being so much more hardcore now and actually capable of successfully raiding settlements and laying waste to them, but it's very disconcerting overall.

It's because you have giant megabeasts stomping around, destroying settlements.

There is obviously only one solution.

GO INTO ADVENTURER MODE AND DESTROY AS MANY OF THEM AS POSSIBLE! FREE THE MORTAL RACES!
