Your new standard embark loadout
« on: April 02, 2010, 12:33:47 pm »

Mine used to be:
-anvil
-1 pick
-6 copper bars
-26 of each alcohol (delicious free barrels)
-1 of each 2-value meat
-80 turtles
-10 of each seed
-10 cheap leather
-10 bauxite
-2 cats
-enough wood to make the elves cry

Now, I'm debating if I want to embark with just 500 units of cat blood, not unlike the 1 hat / 14 grandfather clock challenge in Oregon Trail.

What is your new loadout?

Q: What do you get when you take 100 clear glass windows, 1000 silver bars, 6700 gold bars, and 18,000 marble blocks?

A: A very large wall.

"Alright, here's Helltooth... Harborfence... Urist, come get GenericBlade... and you. Welcome to the Danger Room. First timers get good ol' Ballswallowed. Have fun and try not to take off your own toe."

  • an anvil
  • 26 of each alcohol
  • 41 lobsters or cave fish or both
  • 3 copper bars and 3 charcoal
  • 1 pitchblende (initially for setting up a forge, then for building a RADIOACTIVE STILL, which will produce RADIOACTIVE BOOZE. seriously, df badly needs radioactive minerals for mutations, food sterilizing and general lulz)
  • 1 male cat
  • 3 female dogs and 1 male for breeding
  • 10 cheap leather for quick bags
  • optional logs for wood-free areas

And that's about it. Options may vary for different regions, of course.

food sterilizing

The sterilizing would not be limited to food. Be careful, or you might end up becoming... very migrant dependent.

(In all seriousness though, I don't think the refining techniques available with DF technology would be able to extract anything very "hot".)

Well I am definitely not embarking with 150 flux stones any more. Donkeys, mules and horses may rejoice now.

Now that you can set the max embark points you can really start with everything you need for years.

I set the embark points to 10,000 (maximum) on one map and embarked on an obsidian tower.... which happened to be controlled by dwarves... walled up all the doors in the tower I embarked in and I am now free to do with it as I please.

Good times will be had by all.
