Dralthas seem more like cave giraffes to me.  They're supposed to be tall, grazing beasts that eat tower cap tops, after all.  Got them all over my fort.  One got in and kicked a sleeping farmer to death.  Ended up drafting and had them chase it around until the caravan came and took care of it.

Since then we've walled up the farming operation.

Elk birds are VICIOUS. Yeah, they're just moderately-sized herbivores, but those antlers hurt. :(

My current fort is a scientific expedition. Cage traps line the entrance to the underground. We will capture what we can for study and find out what can be tamed by the common dwarf. Later on, we will see what a Dungeon Master can make of these beasts.
Meanwhile, an underground logging industry has started. Both to expand our knowledge of the underground terrain and to make pretty colored beds.

One stone-fall trap is enough to take out an elkbird, and they drop lots of bones.

And then what?  Mine the sky? . . .  Actually, that'd be awesome.
