Do hatch covers add to room value?
« on: April 03, 2010, 08:28:36 am »

I give my dwarves small rooms with high value to make them happy little slaves.  With the new z levels I was thinking of cramming each in a 2 by 2 pod each with an up/down stairway and a hatch cover.
Do hatch covers add to value? what about smooth stairways made of obsidian blocks?

Hatch covers do add to the room value. Up-stairs do as well. Don't know about down stairs under a hatch cover.
Rooms still don't span several z-levels, do they? If not, having 2 levels per dwarf is kind of wasteful. They only need one room to sleep and store their stuff. Offices are not needed and a legendary communal dining room will be much better than a tiny private one.
