It's not an exact match but it's kind of a nod towards the old days.  Am I looking into this too much or did anyone else notice it?

Sorry, I started playing from 3D, but from what I have seen of old forts, and of coarse boatmurded, it does seem to be the inspiration. Although rather then just a river, we get an entire freaking cave network!
