Platinum/aluminium "sharp blades"

I was looking through the economic stones list, and native platinum and aluminium were both reserved to produce "sharp blades," like obsidian is. Does anyone else have this, and if so, is it possible to make platinum swords with the power of steel?

I've noticed the majority of metal-ore can be made into sharp blades. (with the exception of zinc, lead and the other shitty one)
