Keybindings
« on: April 01, 2010, 05:35:34 pm »

Does anyone more familiar with keybindings than me know about the possibility/advisability of eliminating the need for ESC and mapping it back to the space bar like in 40d?

It's really screwing with my rhythm to reach for ESC all the time.

I don't know how to change it permanently, but you can change it for the current session in the ESC menu under Key Bindings. It is one of the first few options.

However, if you change it to space, you won't be able to put in multiple words when searching in job manager.

Change it to space, then press 's' to save it for the next time.

It REALLY threw me off as well, it hadn't occurred to me that I could easily change it in the in-game keybinding menu. Thanks to this thread. :)

I've done it permanentely by going into interface.txt in data/init and changing

[LEAVESCREEN:ESC]

to

[LEAVESCREEN:SPACE]

I tried hitting s, but for some reason it didn't save. Hmm...

in the screen where you change the keybindings in game there's an option at the top to "save to textfile"  that makes it permanent
