custom workshop questions

well, currently i'm trying to make a custom workshop named 'Shrine of Armok'

which turns metals into bloodmetals with barrel of blood.

and oh boy. i'm stuck.

i can't figure how to make blood as reagant.

any suggestions?

or any alternative ways?

Its impossible to use any other liquid than lye as a reagent right now. The game seems to be unable to detect them in their containers.

The only thing I can think of is to have creatures produce a glob of solid fake blood when they are butchered, like fat with a different name and color. It would be a bit odd for dwarves to carry blood without any container but right now it seems to be the only way.

Its either that or replacing the blood with remains, corpses or bodyparts. Adding a material reaction product tag to meat and having reactions require that also works, in fact, it seems to be the only way for reactions to detect corpses. The CORPSE item type doesnt work.
