The funniest line for me is "We are in MurkyGild. Seek this place."
I sense a deep, spiritual meaning, but...

Probably just some type of bug. Enjoy the evil while it lasts!

your being hired as a thug to kill some kids.a few weeks later the town will probably be burned down by hfs coming out a cavern anyway.even if you dont kill them they'll be kidnapped by goblins at the least and will try to kill you.

such is the life of people in the df universe.

I can picture a genuine fantasy hero sighing, weighing the town's moral value for wanting their own children executed by strangers, and then burning the whole thing to the ground.

"There must be good SOMEWHERE in this world."

And when you build your fortress walls from the bones of skeletal elephants, slain my weapons forged from melted goblin plunder, fed on cattle that graze on grass that blinks.  Then, you will know dwarfdom.

I experienced something weird once where I wandered into a dark tower that humans had taken over and built a town around. Went to the temple, and the temple leader was a goblin - who issued a challenge at me. Also, a spearman nearby ran up to attack him, and there was a dead body in the sacred pool.
So I ran up to finish the goblin off to get the XP instead of wasting it on an NPC spearman. But as soon as he died, I was marked as an enemy of some goblin civ and religion. No prob, since it was a human town, right? Well, some priest who was previously peaceful then started trying to bash me with his morningstar. So I killed him too.
Which then marked me an enemy of the town's site government (which had no problem with me while the priest was trying to stave my head in!), but not of the overall civ government. However, the town's administrator attacked me, and when I killed him, I was suddenly an enemy of the civ.

Anyway, what I suspect happened in your case was that something (???) caused people to fight each other when you entered the town, and the child ended up coming up on top, and thus being marked for assassination. Weird, innit. Probably a bug in there somewhere.

Loyalty cascades make the best forum threads.

We need a realiable way for this version to cause them. I think we had one for the last one. Something like getting a shops weapon stuck in some guy, marking him as a thief. It might still work in this version.

I make Grimlocke's History & Realism Mods. Its got poleaxes, sturdy joints and bloomeries. Now compatible with DF Revised!
